Connecting Two Computers Using Usb

Connecting Two Computers Using Usb USB, also known as Universal Serial Bus, is one of the most useful computer-related technologies ever developed.
USB is used to connect printers, keyboards, digital cameras and even MP3 players to your computer.
But you can also connect two computers using USB...Want to know how..
Then Here it is.....

Quote:
Step 1>Turn on both of the computers. Log in to Windows using an account with administrator privileges.

Step 2>Insert one end of the USB bridge cable into a USB slot on one computer, and the other end of the bridge into the second computer.

Step 3>Install the driver software for the USB bridge cable when the computers prompt you to do so. If you do not have driver software for the USB bridge cable, you may be able to download it from the cable manufacturer.

Step 4>Choose to install the USB bridge cable either as a link adapter or a network adapter. If you install it as a link adapter, you will only be able to transfer files back and forth. If you install it as a network adapter, you will have full network functionality.

10 Ways to Extend Your Laptop’s Battery Life

.Turn off wireless and Bluetooth –Turning off your Bluetooth and wireless won’t save you a whole lot of power but in certain situations every bit counts.

2. Cut down on programs running in the background. Itunes, Desktop Search, etc. All these add to the CPU load and cut down battery life. Shut down everything that isn’t crucial when you’re on battery.

3.Disconnect all external device like PC Card modems, Firewire, USB devices and optical drives. Use the notebook touchpad instead of an external mouse.

4.Don’t standby, hibernate – Not only does using hibernate instead of standby conserve battery power, but it also automatically saves and shuts off your laptop. Standby mode still uses power.

5.Dim your screen – Most laptops come with the ability to dim your laptop screen. Some even come with ways to modify CPU and cooling performance. Cut them down to the lowest level you can tolerate to squeeze out some extra battery juice.

6.Turn off speakers – If you must listen to music use your iPod instead, just make sure it’s not plugged into your laptop.

7. Keep operating temperature down – Your laptop operates more efficiently when it’s cooler. Clean out your air vents with a cloth or keyboard cleaner.

8.Turn off Auto-save features in Microsoft Office and other applications.

9. Take care of your battery – Exercise the Battery. Do not leave a charged battery dormant for long periods of time. Once charged, you should at least use the battery at least once every two to three weeks.

10.Don’t leave it in sunlight – Batteries are sensitive and exposing them to extreme temperatures can cause major damage.

Optimize Your META Tags

META tags are hidden code read only by search engine webcrawlers (also called spiders). They live within the HEAD section of a web page. There are actually 2 very important META tags you need to worry about: description and keywords. Meta tags summarize what the site is about, and despite some SEO controversy, they still play an instrumental role in meta-based search engines. The META tags you need to be the most concerned about are:

1. description
2. keywords

Sequencing of these tags may be extremely important. I say “may” because SEO is mostly hypothesis due to the changing algorithms of the search engines. Even though the W3C states that tag attributes do not have to be in any particular sequence, I’ve noticed a significant difference when I have the tags and attributes in the order described here. The only deviation from the list above is that the Title tag should come before the META description.

The description META tag is the text that will be displayed under your title on the results page. See the OC Internet Advertising example above. There’s also a lot of controversy about the number of characters you should have in this tag. I’ve seen sites with a paragraph in their description listed in the top results, so I don’t think the number of characters here plays any kind of role with the search engines.

However, if you want the listing to look clear and to the point, my Top 10 SEO Tips for this META tag would be to keep it under 150 characters and to not repeat your keywords more than 3 times. It may be a coincidence, but I’ve also noticed ranking improvements when I put my keywords at the beginning of the description. Here’s the syntax:

The last important META tag is the keywords META tag, which some time ago lost a lot of points in Google’s search engine algorithm. Along with being valuable to this top 10 SEO tips list, this tag is still important to many other search engines and should not be ignored. Based on my experience with this tag, you can have approximately 800 characters in this tag (including spaces).

SEO Tip: if you repeat your keywords more than 3 times it can be a pretty good indication to the search engine that you are trying to spam their search results. Also, don’t waste your time including keywords that aren’t used in the BODY section of your website, that could be seen as another spam technique. Here’s the syntax used on this Top 10 SEO Tips page:

24 METHODS TO SPEED UP YOUR WINDOWS XP

Here are 24 tips on how to speed up your Windows XP. Note:I recall that changing the various options and settings without understanding what and how they can influence, is very easy to spoil everything. Therefore, first of all you need to worry about safety and benefit of Windows XP available for this all means for backing up: Backup, System Restore, ASR.

Before you start, pardon my English and don't forget to back up!

The purpose of below tips to save the installed Windows XP Pro from quite unnecessary for home users to speed up the decorations and the whole system work. These 25 boards, only a fraction of what can be done to optimize and accelerate Windows XP.

1) We recover the classic style Start menu: right click the mouse on taskbar, "Properties" tab "Start Menu, choose" Classic Start menu, "OK."

2) Clicking the right mouse button on the scratch the screen, the menu item "Properties" tab "Appearance." Choose "Classic style" windows and buttons. Push the button "Effects." Remove all except the last.

3) In the Control Panel, choose "Folder Options." In the new window select "Use a normal folder" Windows "- it will get rid of extra decorations, which slow down the process of navigation. Turn into" View "tab. Put a check in the" Do not cache thumbnails "- except when viewing folders with image files, Windows will trash its miniature copies of pictures of ticks in the "Display" Control Panel "folder in" My Computer ", remove the checkboxes next to" Remember each folder display options (optional) and "Hide protected operating system files", select the option "Show hidden files and folders. "

4) In the Control Panel, select System. In the Advanced tab in the "Performance" click the button "Options." In the window that appears, select "Visual Effects" and remove all ticks.

5) Turn off error reports. Call "System Properties" tab and "Advanced" - "Error Reporting", select the "Disable Error Reporting."

6) To remove Windows Messenger. Each time you boot Messenger also starts, slows down the process of loading, devouring system resources. At the command prompt Start - Run type the following: «RunDll32 advpack.dll, LaunchINFSection% windir% INF msmsgs.inf, BLC.Remove» and press «OK». After you restart Windows Messenger on your computer you will not find.

7) Establish the optimum value of the paging file. "System Properties" - "Advanced" - "speed" - "Advanced" - "Virtual Memory" - "Change". Initial Size and Maximum recommended the same place. For ordinary work is multiplied by the amount of memory available for 1.5. To play the memory required in two, two and a half times more.

8) reduces the time delay before the disclosure of nested menus. Start - Run type "regedit". In the registry find the HKEY_CURRENT_USER Control Panel Desktop. Parameter MenuShowDelay change from 400 to 0.

9) Remove unnecessary programs from Startup. Start - Run type "msconfig". The tab "Startup" - uncheck some of those programs that you do not want.

10), empty folder, "prefetch" - C: windows prefetch. This folder contains links to run applications and programs. Some links are no longer used or used rarely, but when booting the system checks for the existence of links in this folder. Over time, the number of links in that folder increases by so much that the system requires more time for review. Emptying the folder will accelerate the speed of your system. Not recommended after cleaning to make a folder, restart the system. This will worsen the performance.

11) Disable indexing. Opens «My Computer», click the right mouse button on the hard drive icon and select «Properties». In the new window remove the tick «Allow indexing disk for fast searching». After pressing the button «Apply» or «OK» A new window appears in which you will be asked whether to apply the selected attributes only to the current drive, or to put files and folders as well. As a result, the system will run slightly faster. Applicable only for disks with file system NTFS.

12) Windows XP files are considered "Zip" folder - this is handy if you have a fast computer. On a slow system, you can force Windows XP to give up this possibility (if you have any other archive, such as "RAR"), by typing in the command line "regsvr32 / u zipfldr.dll". All the back, you can command "regsvr32 zipfldr.dll".

13) Change the priority of interrupt requests (IRQ). Increasing the priority of CMOS-RAM and real-time clock, you can increase the productivity of all elements of the motherboard. Open "System Properties" - "Equipment" button "Device Manager". Now open the properties of a particular device, and select the "Resources". Here you can see what IRQ number used by the selected device. Note the number of interrupts, and close all windows. Run RegEdit. Locate the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE / System / CurrentControlSet / Control / PriorityControl. Create a new DWORD key IRQ # Priority (where '#' number IRQ) and set it to «1». For example, in our case, IRQ08 is reserved for System CMOS. Therefore, we have established key IRQ8Priority.

14) Disconnecting not use the subsystem "POSIX" may slightly increase performance. Run "Regedit". Open the Registry Editor, in the branch HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE SYSTEM CurrentControlSet Control SessionManager SubSystems and delete rows and Optional Posix.

16) Do not use a swap file to store the kernel. By default, WinXP unloads kernel and drivers in the system paging file, if they are not used. With this option you can specify WinXP store the kernel and system driver is always in memory. Run "Regedit" HKLM SYSTEM CurrentControlSet Control Session Manager Memory Management option DisablePagingExecutive, "1" - do not use the swap file to store the kernel of the system, "0" - to use

17) Automatically download does not use the library. This feature helps to release the memory. Run "Regedit" HKLM SOFTWARE Microsoft Windows CurrentVersion Explorer option AlwaysUnloadDLL, the value of "1" - unload the library, the value of "0" - do not unload. value 1 - download the library, the value 0 - do not unload a value of 1 - download the library, the value 0 - do not unload. Note: may crash the system when this option is enabled.

18) Use Fast User Switching. If this option is enabled, when switching to another user, the program user will continue to work. Otherwise, the program will be automatically turned off when the user logs out, and with the user of the computer will run faster. Run "Regedit" HKLM SOFTWARE Microsoft Windows NT CurrentVersion Winlogon parameter AllowMultipleTSSessions, the value of "1" - to use the Fast User Switching

19) Turn off the built-debugger Dr. Watson. If this option is turned off, the error in the program will display an appropriate error message with OK and Cancel buttons when you press OK - the application is completed, and when you click on the abolition of the debugger is started. In Registry Editor, "Regedit" HKLM SOFTWARE Microsoft Windows NT CurrentVersion AeDebug option "Auto" hold "0"

20) Do not keep history of open documents. Do not keep history of recently used documents. Windows XP creates a folder in Documents and Settings % USERNAME% Recent shortcuts to executable programs. You can turn off this feature if you do not use them. Run "Regedit" HKCU Software Microsoft Windows CurrentVersion Policies Explorer option NoRecentDocsHistory, the value of "1"-story is not being

21) Automatically terminate frozen applications. This option is used for the automatic closing without any warning of frozen programs. Convenient when you close the computer, if the application does not respond, then do not click on the button to complete it. Run "Regedit" HKCU Control Panel Desktop option AutoEndTasks, the value of "1" - will automatically terminate frozen applications, "0" - wait for user input

22) Turn off the message of the lack of free disk space. Do not issue a message of lack of space. It makes sense to use this option on the disk size. Run "Regedit" HKCU Software Microsoft Windows CurrentVersion Policies Explorer option, NoLowDiskSpaceChecks, the value of "1" - the message is disabled, "0" - enabled

23) Blocking automatic updating in Windows Media Player. Windows Media Player periodically establishes a connection via the Internet to verify the existence of a new version of the program (Tools-Options-frame Automatic updates). You can disable this feature in Windows Media Player. Run "Regedit" HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE SOFTWARE Policies Microsoft WindowsMediaPlayer parameter DisableAutoUpdate, the value of "1".

24) The release of the channel (bandwidth), reserved for the service QoS. Windows XP by default allocates part of the Internet channel for the Quality of Service (QoS). Assigning QoS - to improve traffic distribution programs written in the light of QoS API. These programs do not find, so the backup channel for the unnecessary service - a luxury. In order to relieve an already narrow channel home Internet connection, click Start -> Run, run the Group Policy Editor gpedit.msc. To perform you must be a system administrator. Under "Computer Configuration, click Administrative Templates", then "Network" and then in the right pane, select the «manager packages QoS» and click on it twice. Select "Limit the reserved bandwidth, and again, click on it twice. In the new window, turn on Enabled, and then specify the limit of the channel as a percentage equal to zero, click OK and exit the program. Open the "Network Connections" in Control Panel, open the properties of your connection and on the "Network", make sure that the protocol Planner packages QoS "is connected. If it's not there, then add from the list and restart the computer.

Reasons to a Computer Restart itself Automatically

Might you your computer have facing this and the sound is annoyed. If the computer restart itself as a habit randomly or a in a time cycle then that could be done by malicious virus inside your system

* A virus:

You need to make your computer virus guard up to date and make sure the virus program working properly . Also you need to be assuring that the antivirus program hefty enough for beating at least 99% viruses.

Here I’m trying to consolidate several reasons for a computer restart itself without knowing the user.

* Downloaded updates need to install

A computer can be restart because automatically downloaded an update package needs install its updates and work out this by itself restarting the computer. Probably these could be malicious programs.

* Overheating:

Overheating of the parts also cause for this kind of matter. In fact the proper response of a computer to overheating is the power off. Nothing is gained by restarting. However overheating could cause the BIOS or power supply to malfunction causing it to restart.

You can improve the airflow through the machine or invest in a water-cooling system. These are favored by gamers, who put a lot of stress on machines heating them up.

* Microsoft Auto Update:

Microsoft Auto Update can force a reboot to the after countdown (Many pc's are set to do this at 3am by default) if the update requires a dll reload/change.

* Remotely Shutdown:

Also someone can use shutdown -i which is a command to remotely shutdown a computer all they would need is an IP address (Internet protocol Address).

Cool Things You Can Do With Google

No one would argue the fact that Google is one of the most useful sites on the Internet. Unfortunately, most people only use about 3% of its power.

Smart Google users, on the other hand, know how to turn Google into a quick calculator, translate foreign sites, create their own customized search engine, and search for movie reviews and stock quotes with special search queries. In this article, we’ll show you how to do all of that and more.

Turn Google Into a Quick Calculator

Google enables you to perform a number of math operations including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and percentages.
All you have to do is use some calculator operators, which include:

+ (addition)
- (subtraction)
* (multiplication)
/ (division)
% of (percentage of)
^ (raise to a power)

Here a few example queries to get you started.

23+34
120-43
36*20
27/3
36% of 134
3^9 (3 to the 9th power)

Take Notes while Browsing the Web with Google Notebook.

This note taking application allows you to organize all of your online research quickly and easily. With Google Notebook, you can clip text, images, and links from web pages while browsing. Your notes and clips are saved to an online “notebook” that you can access from any computer, and may also be shared with others. So whether you’re planning a vacation or writing a school paper, Google Notebook makes it easy. To get started, go to Google Notebook’s main site.

Translate Foreign Sites

A large portion of the web sites on the Internet are not in English. This means that you’re missing out on a big portion of the Web. Fortunately, Google has provided a solution.

First, translate the word you want to search for into the desired language. You can do this at BabelFish. Next, go to Google, enter your search query, and press enter.

On the results page, you should see a link that says, “Translate this page” to the right side of the search results. Click on that link and Google will automatically translate the page to English for you.

I have used just this one tip to discover a number of great new sites that I never would have had access to if it weren’t for Google’s translation tools.

Looking for Movie Reviews?

Google’s got you covered. Simply go to http://www.google.com/movies and type in your favorite movie. Here’s an example of my most recent search for Shrek the Third:

Not a Microsoft fan? Google’s got a special Linux search engine waiting for you at http://www.google.com/linux.

Forget the Weather Channel.

Who needs television when you’ve got Google? To get your local weather, simply go to www.google.com and type in weather:”areacode”. Fill in your area code and you will be given a 4-day weather forecast and today’s temperature, wind, and humidity.

Looking For a Stock Quote?

Find it quickly at Google by typing in: “stocks:msft”. This search query will give you a quick snapshot of Microsoft’s stock performance. To find other stock information, just change the stock symbol.

Create your own Customized Google Search Engine.

Google is allowing everyone to join in the fun with Google Custom Search Engines. This Google product allows anyone to create their very own search engine.

You get to choose the sites, invite others to contribute to your search engine, and even customize the look and feel to suit your preferences.

Hidden Google Pages

There are also a number of hidden pages on Google that you’ve probably never seen before. Here are just a few of them:

Google Moms - A tribute to Google moms for Mother’s Day.

Google Dance 2004 , Google Dance 2005 and Google Dance 2006. Yes, it’s hard to believe, but Google has their very own dance. They’re packed with plenty of food, drinks, games, product demos, and a hotspot where you can meet the engineers.

Google Holiday Logos - About the only thing that spices up the Google homepage are their cool logos. They’ve dedicated a special page to commemorate all of the holiday logos dating back to 1999.

Dilbert and the Google Logo - Check out the first and last Dilbert cartoon on Google.

Get the local time of any place

Not many people know that Google can also be used to get the local time of any place. To get the local time of the place of your choice follow the steps mentioned below.
1.) Point your browser to www.google.com
2.) In the search box type time . For e.g. to get the current time of Bangalore type, time Bangalore

Enhance Your SATA Hard Disk Performance in Vista

Microsoft Windows Vista users must have used the search box on the Start menu and after using it they must have experienced its sheer power. This search box not only searches in your start menu and control panel but also your personal files like pictures, documents and even your emails. This makes it very useful for everyday tasks. It also saves time and we also tend to get the habit of getting what we want by just typing a few letters and the reason why I love it!

Getting back to the topic, if you are having a lot of personal files then this feature of the search box, i.e., searching through files takes toll on its performance and causes it to slow down. But if we narrow down the search to only start menu and control panel then we can easily get some performance benefits. This tip will help us to find the program or setting easily and faster. Follow these steps to make search box faster:

1. First right-click on the Start button and select Properties.

2. Then select the Customize button.

3. Remove the check where it says Search Communications.

4. Then for Search Files set Don’t search for files.

5. Click OK, then OK again and you are done.

Enjoy a speedy search and get your results quicker! :)

Increasing options in add/remove programs

Not a fan of MSN Messenger? don't want Windows Media Player on your system? Fair enough, but if you go to Add/Remove Programs in the Control Panel, by default none of Windows XP's 'built in' programs are visible. it's fairly easy to change, though... just open the file X:\Windows\inf\sysoc.inf (where X: is the drive letter where Windows XP is installed) in Notepad. You should see a section of the file something like this:

[Components]
NtComponents=ntoc.dll,NtOcSetupProc,,4
WBEM=ocgen.dll,OcEntry,wbemoc.inf,hide,7
Display=desk.cpl,DisplayOcSetupProc,,7
Fax=fxsocm.dll,FaxOcmSetupProc,fxsocm.inf,,7
NetOC=netoc.dll,NetOcSetupProc,netoc.inf,,7
iis=iis.dll,OcEntry,iis.inf,,7
com=comsetup.dll,OcEntry,comnt5.inf,hide,7
dtc=msdtcstp.dll,OcEntry,dtcnt5.inf,hide,7
IndexSrv_System = setupqry.dll,IndexSrv,setupqry.inf,,7
TerminalServer=TsOc.dll, HydraOc, TsOc.inf,hide,2
msmq=msmqocm.dll,MsmqOcm,msmqocm.inf,,6
ims=imsinsnt.dll,OcEntry,ims.inf,,7
fp_extensions=fp40ext.dll,FrontPage4Extensions,fp40ext.inf,,7
AutoUpdate=ocgen.dll,OcEntry,au.inf,hide,7
msmsgs=msgrocm.dll,OcEntry,msmsgs.inf,hide,7
RootAutoUpdate=ocgen.dll,OcEntry,rootau.inf,,7
IEAccess=ocgen.dll,OcEntry,ieaccess.inf,,7

This is a list of all components installed at the moment. I've taken the example of MSN Messenger - the program entry called 'msmsgs', third-last line. You can see the word 'hide' highlighted - this is the string which tells Windows not to display the component in the Add/Remove Programs list. Fix this up by simply deleting the word 'hide' like so:

msmsgs=msgrocm.dll,OcEntry,msmsgs.inf,hide,7

To this:

msmsgs=msgrocm.dll,OcEntry,msmsgs.inf,,7

Now, after restarting, you should be able to see MSN Messenger in the Add/Remove Programs list. If you want to be able to quickly view and remove all components, simply open the sysoc.inf file and do a global find and replace for the word ",hide" and replace it with a single comma ",".
